for the time being! I truly am flattered, appreciative and thankful for all of the recent inquiries for sessions. Unfortunately (really, fortunately ), I am crazy busy with my first full-time job; being a Mama, teacher, doctor, psychologist, wife, etc. to my three kiddos and husband. While I love taking photographs, my dream come true was to be a stay-at-home Mom, which, thanks to my awesome provider of a husband, I have been able to do since my first son was born. That said, I can’t imagine not having photography in my life; I’m on a quest to find balance. Seniors, I’m pretty sure I will still offer Thursday and Friday evenings to you, starting in the fall. Please contact me, beginning in September if you are interested in booking your Senior portraits….don’t be late, the slots go fast! Everyone else, thank you for continuing to follow my blog. If you are interested in family, children or newborn portraits in the meantime, I have lots of fabulous photographer friends in the area (and in other states!) that I can recommend. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of those who have helped me build my portfolio! You all have a special place in my heart. xo

Olivia | Seniors 2010 {Katy TX Senior Portrait Photographer}

My poor baby girl has been sick all week and while I feel sorry for her, especially since it was her birthday this week, I really needed a break, a little fun, something….dare I say it…something. for. me. Guilt ensues. At a time in my life when most of my time is given to all of the little people around me, it’s nice to have photography as a creative outlet; a way to leave the house, find myself again, and return back home to the beautiful chaos that sums up the life of just about anybody with small children. Olivia and her Mom drove up with a closet, practically, in their truck…so much fun to sort through the colors and whispy tops and dresses to find just the right thing. Olivia and Kim, thank you for the girlie evening; I so needed it. Olivia, I hope your future becomes everything you want it to be; I enjoyed the brief time we spent together. xo

I could go on all day about this session (as my husband already knows! Sorry, Honey). To sum it up, Robyn is truly a beautiful person, inside and out. I instantly connected with her and her gorgeous Mom the minute they arrived. We had a whirlwind of a creative evening; the kind of evening where I get in my car after, breathe a happy sigh and eagerly anticipate reviewing the images. These shots are from the last 20 minutes of our session…I have many more using other backgrounds, but these images are what made my heart sing…. Robyn and Julie, I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful, beautiful evening…I feel so blessed that you chose me. xo

I have a confession to make: this photography thing, where I actually go out and take pictures of people, does not feel like a job. Later, yes, when I’m editing, I admit I can get tired and worn out from that, but the actual shooting process is such a thrill. When I break through the barrier of reserve, the reserve that gets me the “cheese” smile, I feel such a sense of accomplishment. My clients have turned from clients into friends, suddenly, it seems. Today was such a gift for me; I could take the children in this family home; I adore them. Baby Girl reminds me so much of my Caroline and her brother was beyond delightful when we had the unexpected surprise of not one, but two trains, pass in front of us on the train tracks. His excitement was sooooo contagious and I was reminded of Sarah McLachlan’s Ordinary Miracles. The little things that happen to us during our day that makes life not just livable, but fulfilling. The trains that delight unexpectedly. The warmth of your baby girl as you lift her out of her crib after a nap, your just beginning reader reading a book to you, then puffing up with pride….those precious little ordinary things. Thank you for being my gift today, “M” family.

Have you ever met someone who can’t stop smiling? You know, the kind of person who, you dare them to frown and they try; they really, really try, but when they do, they bust out laughing? They are quite infectious, laughter spreads wherever such a person decides to go…they light up a room, or a field or a sky…such people are what lightens the burdens of the world; they show you it’s okay to laugh, at yourself, at life, at problems that really aren’t “problems”, but only little lessons to be learned. I have to say, as much as I love taking pictures of people, Seniors have got to be some of my favorite subjects. They listen! I don’t have to jump up and down and do tricks to get them to smile! If you don’t think life is full of surprises…… {Katy, TX- Custom Newborn Photography}

…talk to the parents of these adorable baby boys! Already the parents of a 4 year old girl and a 2 year old boy, Mom and Dad were ready for their family to be complete, with the arrival of their third and final baby. Little did they know, they were soon to become a family of 6! Somehow the heartbeat of baby boy number two was not heard so it wasn’t until the second trimester that the family found out they were having twins. They were shocked, with no genetic history of twins occuring in their family. Identical twins at that! I had to google; the chance of having identical twins is 1 in 250. The boys are beautiful, as you can see, and you would NEVER know their petite svelte Mama was pregnant (with TWINS!) just a few short weeks ago. Congratulations, “F” family; enjoy those cuddly baby boys and the delight, entertainment and joy they will bring to your family!

this weather hasn’t exactly been ideal for picture takin’. However, despite the misty, rainy weather, the “M” Family and I decided that whatever would be would be, after countless reschedules. I’m so glad too; I was having picture taking withdrawal! By the time we were finished, my jeans were muddy and soaked through and through, but oh my, it was so worth it…..the chance to spend time with a patient and gorgeous family, hiking around the great outdoors, and of course, capturing some special moments in pictures. Thank you, “M” Family, it was so nice to finally meet you!

The “R” Family {Custom Family Portrait Photography – Katy, TX)

You never know what you are going to get when you decide to have children. I remember, with each pregnancy wondering, will he/she look like me, like my husband? Will my children look like each other? So much anticipation waiting to see….deliberating, wondering….dreaming. I couldn’t help but think along these lines as I got to spend time with this beautiful family. The blond- haired, blue-eyed little boy is the spitting image of his mother, and the brown-eyed, dark haired little girl, is a little replica of her father. So amazing how children in the same family can look like opposites, sharing the same gene pool….makes for quite the stunning family, in this case! Thank you much, “R” family, I so enjoyed our time together!
